The Hardest Part Of Our Job

Nobody likes to receive a rejection email. We hate sending them.

Anyone who’s ever applied for a job knows that hearing “unfortunately, your application has not been successful” is disappointing. What many people don’t see, however, is that sending those messages is one of the hardest parts of our job too. As recruiters, we’re committed to being honest and transparent with every applicant, because while rejection is never pleasant to give or receive, we believe honesty is far kinder than absolute silence.

You may notice that we always state on our job adverts that only successful applicants will be contacted. This isn’t something we say lightly. Each vacancy can attract a large number of applications, and while we would love to respond personally to everyone, the reality is that time and volume makes this impossible. That said, when you do receive a rejection from us, it’s because we want to give you closure rather than leave you wondering.

An advert doesn't always tell you everything.

It’s important to remember that an advert tells only part of the story. We include as much detail as we can, but there’s only so much information we can share publicly without disclosing confidential details about our client. Sometimes, a candidate looks perfect on paper, but after reviewing the full brief or speaking with the client, we discover specific requirements that aren’t visible in the advert. These details, things like niche experience, cultural fit, or non-negotiable skills, may be the reason your application isn’t moved forward.

We want every applicant to know that behind every rejection, there’s a real person who has read your CV, considered your skills, and genuinely appreciates the effort you’ve made. Our goal is to match people with roles where they’ll thrive, and being upfront when a match isn’t quite right is part of how we maintain integrity in recruitment. Our clients benefit from our personalised approach of only sending applicants who meet their requirements and our candidates know they are only being presented for roles that they have a realistic opportunity of securing.

Every “no” gets you one step closer to the right “yes.”

Don't be discouraged. Whilst you may not have been successful in securing the role you applied for, there will be more opportunities. If you are actively seeking a new role make sure to keep your details updated with us so that we can keep in touch with relevant positions. We don't always advertise the travel jobs we are working on, such as when there is a sensitive hire. So always make sure to keep in touch.
