Are You Covering The Market?

Job adverts don't always reach everyone

I'm noticing an interesting pattern lately...

Several travel operators and cruise lines are posting roles on LinkedIn, great companies and exciting opportunities. It makes complete sense to use your network. Why wouldn't you?

Here's what I'm curious about though:

When everyone's posting to LinkedIn, you're reaching one segment of the talent pool brilliantly, people who are actively exploring opportunities right now. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that approach.

There's another segment you might be missing entirely.

For example: The high-performing BDM who's genuinely content in their current role, exceeding targets, not looking at job adverts, because they're not unhappy. They just haven't been presented with something that would make them think differently about their next move.

That person isn't seeing your LinkedIn post. Not because they wouldn't be interested, but because they're busy doing exactly what you need them to do, just for someone else right now.

Over the years, I've found that about 75% of successful senior travel appointments come from opening conversations with people who weren't actively searching. Not better candidates, just different candidates. A whole segment of the market who needs a different type of approach.

Just a thought for anyone currently hiring who wants to make sure they're seeing the full picture of what's available.
